I remember to have read that it's the reason the Count of Monte Christo is drawn out a lot more than The Three Musketeers.<br /><br />I've read it several times as well. In German as kid (and the unabridged version), then in Swedish when I lived in Stockholm and came across an old translation for 5 kronor (about 1.5 dollars at the time), and in French a few years ago.
