Yes, I damn with faint praise quite a bit ;)

Agreed on Dora, but I left it with the short comment on her being a "silhouette of a character" in order to preserve some of the plot surprises for those who might actually be inclined to read the work.

As for nominees, I've decided that the novel finalists this year were as a whole sub-par.Larry Nolenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16001420558511460998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8068873.post-63929653184295958742012-10-29T23:22:56.091-05:002012-10-29T23:22:56.091-05:00Your review was more favorable than mine was. She spends most of the either book posing for or fucking Frank and Buehlman really doesn't do anything to move her character beyond that of a slightly animated sex doll. And there was plenty of sex to go around, all written in a bored sort of monotone as if the author had to pad the word count but didn't want to put any real effort into doing so. The predictability of the plot only served to make matters worse.

I love good prose, but there's only so much bad it can make up for. Don't know how this one was nominated.Jameshttp://epbth.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.com
