Quick impression after the first fifth of A Dance With Dragons

I'm impressed with the range of emotions Martin manages to wring out of Hodor.

    Nah, Hodor wil be the only one to survive the mess, and end up on the Iron Throne. Where he's going to do a better job than some of those who occupied it before.

    I also think Martin will give him a pet squirrel. Direwolves and dragons get a bit old.

    No one is given a squirrel. One has to earn a squirrel's trust to be permitted to be blessed with a rabid squirrel's presence. The non-rabid ones are only waiting until they are judged worthy enough of getting to be promoted to rabid status.
