sadly I have to return Battle Royale to my library unread b/c someone else requested it. THE NERVE. oh well I'll get to it eventually.
The Kundera is the first novel he wrote directly in French; the first of what I consider kind of a "trilogy" (though not directly related) of slim French novels, the other two being Identity and Ignorance. His three most recent novels, though they're no longer recent. Just fyi.
Also (sorry, totally irrelevant): What about Aubrey/Maturin? Strange to me to find no mention of them on your blog. :)
