Fantasy of a different stripe

I usually don't post political stuff here, but this clip, which mixes quite a few double entendres in with a riposte directed at some rather asinine protests taking place tomorrow, I felt was worthy of posting here. Don't know of any fiction writer, living or dead, that might have imagined this sort of fantasy world. Do you?

The truly sad part is, the protesters don't "get it." Have they never heard of tea bagging? Maybe Democrats and Liberals do have all the fun.

This news report doesn't sound very objective.

The obliviousness is what gets me here. Having websites devoted to "Teabag Obama" is a bit...strange, as one would think some would have heard of that odious practice.

E.L.,

Yeah, it isn't and normally I wouldn't bother posting such, but when the cluelessness is to this extreme, sometimes I'll go ahead and post something like this. Then again, I'm someone whose political beliefs tend to fall a bit to the left of the Democratic Party's in many particulars, outside both main parties in others. I just want someone to use the word "socialism" in a sense that isn't meant to hark back to the days of Joe McCarthy.

Oh, was it one of those Bill O'Reilly/Keith Olbermann-type of news analysis shows? I don't watch the news that much (I read magazines and the Internet) so I wouldn't know.

Unfortunately, so many people really are THIS stupid.

It was taken from countdown with Olbermen yes. Great show, I love the fact that when they were taking the debt to fund the Iraq war these same people didn't have a problem with it.

Being more economically conservative than Larry (socialism pretty much should always harken back to Macarthy) I can see where they are coming from, and I expect the entendres are purposful. These same people see nothing wrong with insulting the man or the office (as long as a democract holds it) this way.

Just got back from a Tea Party in upstate NY. It actually wasn't so much about taxes as it was culture war stuff in general. I'll have a write-up tomorrow, hopefully with pictures if I can get my cell phone to work.

Quick overview: Some good points made, but mostly a lot of conservative bombast.

Yeah, it's true that I'm more more sympathetic to the democratic socialist side (or rather to a "third way" social Catholic PoV) than I am to laissez-faire capitalism, but I do like hearing conservative arguments on occasion. But bombast, regardless of party affliation, is not appealing at all, which is why I wouldn't be likely to attend a political rally of any sort.
