Mid-week, mid-October book porn

Here are five more books, all but one in the original Ballantine Books edition, of books selected to be in the Ballantine Adult Fantasy series. These will be read in the near future.

Here are three books that I have bought (the Gilman, Donoghue, and Conn books) and two that I received recently from DAW and St. Martin's Press.  Currently reading the Gilman book after finishing (and mostly enjoying) the Conn book this weekend.  The Donoghue will be read in the near future; uncertain about the other two.

And to close things out, here are three DAW paperbacks that I received earlier this week.  The usual monthly themed paperback anthology, plus the MMPB edition of Katharine Kerr's latest book and some urban fantasy.  Might glance through the steampunk anthology at least, but am uncertain at the moment.
Which one(s) appeal to you the most and why?

I liked Kerr's books - the whole series.
I hope you'll review the Gilman because I hesitate to read it. I picked good reviews but the plot doesn't really appeal to me.

Room is a very emotional novel that I was very skeptical about - after all my son has been 5 not that long ago - to my surprise the author kept the narration utterly believable to the end - maybe leaving aside the short middle part - and I liked it a lot; though I think that having raised children makes one appreciate it more

I am curious how I will like The Finkler Question since it just beat Room for the Booker - hated C though big time but you may like it

The half made World is Gilman at his best imho, the only major niggle is that the book is only a half so to speak though it has enough closure

Will look at the Conn book since the Google books excerpt reads well.

I've heard very good things about Room - one of those books that's not easy to read, but should be read.
