October 31-November 1 Book Porn

Due to the number of books received, I decided for most of these to take a picture of them stacked on one of my bookshelves. These are books that I received this morning as a very generous gift from Jeff VanderMeer, while the first photo is of books that I received from publishers the past couple of days:

Left: Todd McCaffrey, Dragonheart (err...); Peter V. Brett, The Warded Man (apparently this debut novel is receiving some positive attention in the UK and Canada from certain epic fantasy bloggers right now and I'll likely read it before the year is out, out of curiosity); Robert E. Howard, The Horror Stories of Robert E. Howard (this year seems to be the year of bringing out snazzy - yes, I said "snazzy," so sue me if you hate it - new omnibi of pulp author works).

Just a listing for all of these, as with a few exceptions (each of those for books I've read before) these are books that I shall read and review hopefully in the next couple of months.

Left: Álvaro Uribe (ed.), Best of Contemporary Mexican Fiction (bilingual); Stuart Archer Cohen, The Army of the Republic; Galen Beckett, The Magicians and Mrs. Quent; Jeremy C. Shipp, Sheep and Wolves (story collection); Nicole Kornher-Stace, Desideria; John Langan, Mr. Gaunt and Other Uneasy Encounters; Cyril Pedrosa, Three Shadows (graphic novel); Jim Thompson, Child of Rage; Appollo and Lewis Trondheim, Bourbon Island 1730; Ramsey Campbell, The Face That Must Die; Michael Shea, The Autopsy and Other Tales.

Left: Nate Powell, Swallow Me Whole; Philip K. Dick, Humpty Dumpty in Oakland; Nisi Shawl, Filter House; Lisa Tuttle, My Death; L. Timmel Duchamp, De Secretis Mulierum; John Ruskin, The Lamp of Memory; Walter Benjamin, The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction; Jordan Krall, Squid Pulp Blues; John Shirley, Black Glass; Peter F. Hamilton, Misspent Youth; Nick Gevers (ed.), Extraordinary Engines.
