Babelfish translations of my interviews is not good, m'kay?

Saw a link to this in my Sitemeter stats just now. Let's just say the results are...interesting. Don't think Brian Evenson would have said what was printed there about Samuel Beckett.

Amused?

That's funny. A good interview, though, but funny how it came out with Babelfish. I like playing with tranlating programs, you get some weird results.

So, did this start out in English and someone translated it to another language and then back to English? Or did it start in another language?

I conducted the interview in English. Someone must have used a machine translation device on Jeff VanderMeer's excerpting of that interview for Omnivoracious, and then someone else must have taken that translated post and fed it back through a machine translation device for English.

Needless to say, the results don't quite match the original interview ;)

Lol, it's at least more intelligible than the manual to my new DVD player. I suspect that one was babblefished from Japanese into English, then into some really obscure, long dead language like Etruscian, and finally into German. :)
